We Are at War + 8 Watches

We Are at War + 8 Watches

If you aren't in some type of warfare,  then you might want to question whether or not you are in the will of God.  Jesus himself spoke to this in John 16:33 AMP: "I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.]"

This in itself lets us know that we will overcome whatever it is that we face, but we must endure it to the end.  The word is clear that we must "endure hardness as a good soldier" (2 Timothy 2:3 KJV). So what does this mean? It's not enough to go through the war and weather the storm, but it's all dependent upon our attitude concerning this thing.  When we behave as though we are defeated, our posture (which is our mental and spiritual attitude) is off.   When our posture is off, we are not appropriately positioned for our promise.  How can God bless us with a thing or bring us through a thing when our attitude is not one of gratefulness?

Now, I know that sounds strange, but we must be grateful for every test and trial. Something that has helped me is the theory of beginning with the end in mind.  Any time that I face a storm or engage in warfare, I say at the beginning, "Lord, what is it that you would have me to learn?"  If I start out trying to find the lesson early, I am almost guaranteed to pass the test and fight the fight as a good soldier.

But God is Methodical...

Let me encourage you RIGHT NOW!  There are people who think that I don't go through things or that trials are a breeze for me.  Pshh. Please. I'm just wise enough to not broadcast my trials to the public or to the enemy until I've won. #Message.

As a prophet, I battle CONSTANTLY in the mind. (Sidenote and this is free: Prophets battle the spirits of schizophrenia, bipolar, suicide and depression worse than ANY other office.  Visions and dreams are based in the imagination and it takes casting down vain imaginations to keep a sanctified imagination. But that's a word for my prophetic school). Anywho...

I recently went through a MAJOR storm.  So, a promise of mine manifested and then the enemy came and snatched it right out of my hands.  I was devastated.  I felt helpless, defeated, hurt, angry, and more than anything, robbed.  Here is something that I had worked so hard for and in the blink of an eye, it was gone.  I could have done what so many of us do - get depressed and give up.  But I asked God what I needed to do and He said (very clearly), "Strategize."

Who do you know that goes into a war without a strategy?  We read in 2 Samuel 3:1 AMP about the war between David and Saul: "There was a long war between the house of Saul and the house of David; but David grew steadily stronger, while the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker [to the point of being powerless]."  Though this text confirms that the war can be long, it also gives us hope in knowing that the enemy will ultimately be rendered powerless.

Even with this knowledge, God called me to strategize.  So I'm going to kick you the game so that you can know what to do when you get into a war with the enemy.

That's it.

But what happens when we pray?  We often pray amiss (James 4:3) which is why we don't see a manifestation or response from our prayers.  This means that we must target our prayers. But how?

Great question.  Many moons ago, I studied the 8 Watches of Prayer in depth.  Then in 2016, I actually had the opportunity to preach during an 8 Watches Prayer Summit.  But just like that *snaps fingers*, I had put the skills that I had acquired to the side and moved on.  For those who don't know what the 8 Watches is, let me break it down real simple.  There are certain times in the day that we should pray for certain things.  We all know that things must happen in the spirit before they are made manifest on earth, but it is what is bound and loosed on earth that is bound and loosed in Heaven according to Matthew 18:18 (read that again).  So though things are done in the spirit first, the Lord created a law that says that we have to open our mouth and decree a thing before there is movement in the heavens.  Get it? Got it? Good!

So there are certain time periods when we should pray for certain things to be done. Want to be healed? Pray in the fifth watch.  Wanting God to release resources to you? Hit the sixth watch. Need regulation of your mind and freedom from torment? First watch on deck.

Some people may read this and be like, "whatever", but I am a witness that this method works. Remember that thing that the enemy tried to snatch from me? I literally gathered a group of my friends (shout out to the group formerly known as #TheSix) and we consecrated and prayed based on the watches.  It has worked for us before and is working for us now.
