No Matter What Happens
[Guest Post] So many times we get in situations and then decide that we need to call on God. It’s then, at that moment, that we get desperate to hear from Him. Prior to, when things were going great, we weren’t checking for God, even if He was checking for us. We get so tangled up in this “something for nothing mentality;” because God is who He is, He still blesses us even when we aren’t being 100, with Him or ourselves. In our times of trials, we are so pressed for God to swoop down and rescue us from the mess that WE have created. When God doesn’t automatically respond, we get frustrated and even start to doubt at a time when our faith should stand up!
Recently God gave me a word to give to a friend and it applies. He said, “Just because it doesn’t look like what you think it should look like, doesn’t mean that I am not working.” If that doesn’t make you stop and think…well, then I don’t know. Think about it, teachers are often silent during the test. What we need to do is get a “No matter what happens” deep down in our spirits!! At the end of the day no matter what happens in your situation, God is there. If God tells you no, it’s because 1. You aren’t ready. 2. It isn’t for you or 3. Your promise isn’t ready for you. We have to learn to trust God’s timing.
Jeremiah 17: 7-8 says “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” We hear this verse all the time via scripture and in song. I know we have all heard “I Shall Not Be Moved”, but what does that really mean? Really look at the verse, it says it has no worries in a year of drought and NEVER fails to bear fruit. If God is bringing us to it, He’s going to bring us through it. We have to have faith!
So how do we get this faith you ask? We develop faith through situations in our lives that make us rely on God. Many people don’t like to go through situations, they moan, groan, complain, and even say “Why me?” How can you expect your faith to be strengthened if it’s never tested? You don’t expect to get muscles without exercise, so you can't expect to gain an unshakable faith and confidence in God without a test. Remember, “No matter what happens".
